WE ARE NOW SCHEDULING MODERNA & PFIZER VACCINES!
Vaccines are available for new and established UICSL clients or ANYONE living in the same household, 5 years of age or older.
Both Pfizer and Moderna are safe and effective vaccines against serious illness, hospitalizations, and death from COVID-19 infections.
Pfizer has full approval for use in people > 16 years of age, and Emergency Use Authorization for people 5-15 years of age. It is a 2-dose series given 3 – 8 weeks apart.
A third dose is recommended for people with specific immune suppressing conditions, like organ transplantation, and given at least 28 days after receiving the 2nd dose.
Moderna has full approval for people age 18 years and older. It is a 2-dose series given 4-8 weeks apart. A third dose is recommended for people with specific immune conditions, like organ transplantation, and is given at least 28 days after receiving the 2nd dose.
A booster dose has been approved for all people over 12 years of age. 12-17 year olds may only receive the Pfizer booster. Those over 18 may choose either the Moderna or Pfizer booster.
Talk with your healthcare provider to determine the timing of the second dose that is right for you. All people age 12-64, and especially males age 12-29 may consider getting the second dose 8 weeks after the first dose. This longer time interval between 1st and 2nd doses may increase the vaccine effectiveness and further minimize the rare risk of heart problems.
