Honor & Remember: National Day of Awareness for MMIP

May 5

Today, May 5th, the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake joins communities across the nation to observe the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons (MMIP).

We pause to honor the lives, legacies, and spirits of our missing and murdered relatives. This is a day for solemn remembrance, but also a call for continued solidarity, advocacy, and action.

Standing in Solidarity

The crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people impacts our families, our neighbors, and our entire community. We stand together to:

  • Honor those we have lost and those who are still missing.

  • Support the families and survivors who carry the weight of these injustices.

  • Pray for collective healing, strength, and the restoration of safety.

  • Advocate for the justice and systemic changes necessary to protect our relatives.

Our Commitment

Today and every day, we remain committed to being a space of support and a voice for our community. We remember those who are no longer with us, and we reaffirm our dedication to ensuring that no relative is ever forgotten.

“All of our Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives. Today and every day, we stand in solidarity, support, and prayer for healing and justice.”
