Our Presence is Prevention

This April, the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake joins Indigenous communities across the nation to observe Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month.
Our theme this year—“Prevention Starts With Us”—reminds us that while American Indian and Alaska Native communities face disproportionately high rates of violence, our heritage is rooted in strength, respect, and protection. We believe that by reclaiming our traditional values and fostering a culture of consent, we can create a future where every relative is safe.
How You Can Join Us This Month:
-
Speak Up: Break the silence by sharing resources and participating in community dialogues.
-
Educate: Visit our resource center to learn more about teaching healthy boundaries to our youth.
Awareness is the first step toward change. Together, our voices matter.
