The Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake (UICSL) is dedicated to honoring the resilience of our people by providing spaces where individuals and families can learn, share, and grow. Through our Community Health Department, we combine modern wellness with ancestral wisdom to build healthy, connected, and vibrant lifestyles for our Urban Indian community.

Elders
Our Elders are the keepers of our stories and traditions. We offer dedicated spaces for connection, support, and lighthearted engagement.
Elders’ Corner: A bi-monthly gathering for community updates, shared meals, and cultural exchange.
Coffee & Chat: A casual, welcoming space to drop in, socialize, and stay connected with friends and neighbors.
Youth
Building Identity through Connection.
This program empowers 3rd–12th grade American Indian/Alaska Native youth to explore wellness through a cultural lens. We believe that mental, physical, and emotional health are deeply rooted in knowing who you are and where you come from.
Program Highlights:
- Youth Wellness & Culture Classes:
- Engage in cultural activities representing the many tribes in our community.
- Youth Summer Program
- Learn tools for mental and emotional health alongside physical activities.
- Teen Summer Program
- Parents and guardians participate alongside their youth to strengthen the family unit.
- Girls on The Run
- Create lasting friendships with peers who share similar backgrounds.
Participation Details:
- Eligibility: 3rd–12th grade AI/AN youth.
- Requirement: Parents/guardians must stay to supervise and participate.
