Two Spirit & LGBTQIA+ Community

On February 22, 2020 the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake hosted the first annual Two Spirit Pow wow, an event celebrating our Indigenous Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ community power and sacredness of their people. Sacred Paths

In response to the Corona Virus/Covid-19 situation and in accordance with the CDC, Utah Department of Health, and Salt Lake County Health Department regulations,  Sacred Paths Youth Services at the Urban Indian Center of Salt Lake has temporarily adjusted their programs to a virtual/remote format and the following programs are being offered until May 29th, 2020:

  1. Tuesdays 7 to 8pm – Youth Cultural Enrichment and Wellness Promotions Program
    1. Instruction is offered in cultural crafts and powwow dancing and drumming/singing
    2. Programs are available to children and youth who are clients or children of clients at the UICSL.
  2. Fridays 3 to 4pm – Girls of the Run Health and Wellness Program
    1. Instruction is offered in empowerment, self-esteem, mental health and wellness.
    2. This program is for girls who are clients or children of clients of the UICSL who are 3rd through 8th grades and has limited admission.
